Agerris was formed in April 2019 with the aim of commercialising the robotic and artificial intelligence technologies developed at the University of Sydney’s Australian Centre for Field Robotics

Their mission is to help farmers use robots to transform their operations and:

  • increase productivity
  • reduce chemical use
  • lower labour costs
  • help build a sustainable agriculture industry - environmentally, socially and economically. 


The Digital Farmhand is Agerris’ most versatile robot. It can be used for a wide range of purposes, including autonomously pulling up weeds, assessing plant health, estimating crop yield and, in the future, harvesting crops. The Digital Farmhand has been designed to carefully navigate perfectly planted row crops or can tackle rougher terrains found on farms.
